Support Katrina Green in eating disorder recovery
Donation protected
For over 20 years, Katrina is someone who has struggled with an eating disorder. The disorder has brought itself forward in different forms over the years - from anorexia to over-exercising - but what remains constant is that she has always fought her hardest to rise above it.
The toll it has taken on Katrina's health and wellness is unquestionable. She has had health issues since she began suffering from anorexia 20+ years ago, but particularly in the last 12 months, it has become apparent that she can no longer continue to try to struggle on her own. After a week-long hospitalization in September 2022, she learned that she is facing significant heart and liver issues and her doctor has raised serious concerns over her ability to continue living with her disorder. With her bloodwork continuing to get worse, Katrina checked into an eating disorder clinic for 6 weeks beginning in November 2022 to fully focus on her mental and physical health. Since being discharged, she still meets with doctors every day to maintain her recovery and she is even doing her best to learn to appreciate a dessert and a day off of running.
The time she spent hospitalized and in the disorder clinic was unpaid by her employer. Choosing to check into the eating disorder clinic and save her own life has come at the cost of significant financial strain for herself and her family. This GoFundMe is to raise money to help her family with current and past-due bills so that Katrina can stay focused on herself and her recovery without succumbing to financial stress in the meantime.
I have known Katrina for many years, and what I believe to be the most special thing about Katrina is that she has lived her life trying to save other people from the very same eating disorders that she struggles with every day. Through being a wellness coach, a kindergarten teacher, and teaching exercise courses, she has given so much of herself to help young girls struggling with image issues. I am so proud of her for finally looking inward and understanding that it's time for her to help herself, too. Please consider helping her continue on this path to finally, finally, finally move beyond her disease.
