Katherine Anzola Diaz's Double Amputee Recovery

Thank you for taking the time to view our family's fundraiser—my cousin and single mother Kathy Anzola Diaz was recently hit by a drunk driver in a large truck while unloading groceries and decorations for Mother’s Day—the driver sandwiched her against her own vehicle and was so severe that doctors had to amputate both of her legs from the knee up—she’s lucky to be alive, and while we are extremely grateful to have her with us today, we are scrambling to find the resources to bring her to the United States for care and therapy, so that hopefully, after a lot of hard work, she can attend Bilateral Life Camp in September 2023 with Dream Team Prosthetics and undergo a consultation for two prosthetic limbs, with the hopes of one day being able to walk again for her son.

If you know Kathy or our family personally, we aren't folks who request assistance for family matters—on the contrary, we raise funds internally and dedicate our time and resources to helping families and children in rural, impoverished areas every year—however, as you can imagine, this situation presents a unique and overwhelming set of challenges (mental, physical, and financial), so we ask that for my birthday (May 25th) you please make a donation, of any amount, to help us towards our lengthy road to recovery. If you can’t help financially, we ask that you please share this fundraiser on social channels and keep our family and Kathy’s recovery in your prayers as this is all incredibly difficult to process.

With that said, we hope that our family’s situation serves as a reminder to please DRIVE CAREFULLY, and under no circumstances drive under the influence. We realize that life is chaotic and sometimes we find ourselves in situations we have no control over, but if we can all try to be a bit more mindful of our actions and their respective consequences, maybe, just maybe, we can spare another human being and their families from further agony, in what is an already challenging world.
