Katy Schmidt is my niece.
Katy was hospitalized on Christmas Day after being sick for weeks. On 12-30-2016 she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This could have been caused by her medication to treat her Crohn's disease.
The good news is that this type of Lymphoma is very treatable. She starts chemotherapy today, 12-31-2016.
Katy was put in ICU on Christmas night and remains there today. She is still on a ventilator.
Katy's family does have insurance but the out of pocket expenses will be well over $4000 for 2016 and again in 2017.
I have started this Go Fund Me account to help with the out of pocket medical expenses so her mom and dad can focus on her care and not have to worry so much about the expenses.
