With the outbreak of COVID-19, the State of Illinois has temporarily closed restaurants and bars for dine-in service - a huge hit in an already volatile industry.
As a small family owned business, we cannot alone count on carry-out orders, Grubhub, and Uber Eats to sustain business long term. Delivery services such as the aforementioned ones take a significant percentage as commission. In an industry notorious for its low profit margins, this worldwide pandemic has left many of us in the industry worried about not only our bottom line, but the people who count on us to support their own families. We are the business of hospitality. We are in the business of not only providing food, but in the business of sharing our culture through our cuisine.
A lot of small, family run businesses will cease to exist unless communities come together to help save them. We at Kawayan have been blessed to be a part of the Jefferson Park community for 6 years and we hope to continue on for years to come.
We understand the uncertainty of the future ahead and we are aware that this may last way longer than anticipated, but your donations would ensure our restaurant can continue nourishing the community and take care of our own. Thank you for your kind generosity!
