Fundraiser For Musician Kawika Loo
Donation protected
Our dear friend, musician Kawika Loo, recently suffered a devastating stroke. The father of two young girls, Kawika has been an integral part of the Hawaiian music scene in the San Francisco Bay Area for over twenty years, known especially for his work as the longtime bassist for Hawaiian artist Steven Espaniola. An incredibly giving person with a huge heart, Kawika is also known for his ready willingness to participate in many philanthropic events, including the Kōkua Japan San Francisco concert and fundraiser that raised money to help the many thousands affected by the 2011 earthquake in Japan.
This online fundraising effort for Kawika is in tandem with a benefit concert of Hawaiian music to be held in the San Francisco Bay Area at 7pm Sunday May 24, 2015 at Old St Mary's Cathedral (660 California St, San Francisco). The concert will feature a gathering of award-winning Hawaiian music artists, including Faith Ako, JD Puli, Kumu Hula and Musician Kawika Alfiche, Hawai’i Music Award winner Steven Espaniola, and multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner and GRAMMY® nominee Weldon Kekauoha.
Kawika’s wife is only employed part time, and the donations raised are greatly needed to help with his ever-increasing medical expenses. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Loo ‘ohana (family). Mahalo (thank you), and please continue to pule (pray) for Kawika and his family!
