Kayla Lynn Savoie Memorial Fund
Hello friends & family. I have a heavy heart as I do this, but feel compelled to do something. This beautiful young lady earned her wings after a week long stay in the ICU of Baton Rouge General on June 26, 2021. This selfless and brave girl donated her organs & tissue, saving up to 8 people & helping upwards of 75 more.
Kayla was only 27 years old. She was the daughter of Chester Savoie & Lisa Bernard. Chester is a graduate of Central Lafourche High & attended NSU. He is a member of the FBC of Houma family. Lisa is a graduate of Vandebilt Catholic High & NSU. She and Kayla attended St. Thomas More in Baton Rouge. She also leaves behind 3 brothers. Kayla was a avid animal lover.
Her illness & death were very sudden and unexpected. Please consider donating to help cover medical and funeral expenses. Any amount is appreciated. All proceeds will be used to help cover medical & burial costs, and will be directly deposited to her father's account. To avoid any confusion---I am just a friend of the family who witnessed some of the pain & devastation. I am also a recipient of bone graft in my arm, so this hits home for me. The way the medical cost are done with a donor is that once the determination is made and the paperwork is signed, the patient is discharged, then re-admitted under the care of LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency). Kayla was admitted into the ER Sunday morning & transferred to ICU later that day. The paperwork for her donation was Thursday afternoon. It is my understanding that Kayla had a simple Blue Cross policy and no life insurance. As you know, there are deductibles, non-covered expenses & policy limits. The family is responsible for funeral expenses. My hope is to help relieve some of the burden on the family of this little hero. Prayers are appreciated.
