Kayla Sofia Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
As everyone gathers today to bring in the new year, Sofia's family gathers to mourn her loss and start the new year with a funeral and without her.

Sofia was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy when she was just 10 months old and was given 1-3 years to live. Sofia defied the odds and with her strength and the love and support of her mother, her family and her “Bethany Family” at the Bethany Children’s Health Center, she lived to be 14 years old.

Sofia was known to be a fearless warrior. She was intelligent, bright and a little sassy - just the right amount. Although she didn’t have use of her extremities, Sofia could sing, dance and play. With the help of technology Sofia was able to communicate and make her own decisions. She requested colorful hair bows when she was leaving her home at the Bethany Children’s Health Center to go to OU Children’s Hospital for a medical procedure.

Sofia experienced a medical emergency at the Children’s Hospital where she remained hospitalized for over a week - Her mother never left her side. Sofia was called home to be with our Lord.

Having to navigate through the immeasurable pain of seeing a child in a hospital bed and then losing that child is unbearable. Sofia’s mother is completely devastated and trying to process her loss… her pain. Unfortunately, mortgage, bills, food and any expenses incurred by this loss do not care about losses or pain.

It is why I humbly and respectfully ask that we come together and help Sofia’s mother in any way you can in this difficult time.
