Kayla's Big Chance

Donation protected
Kayla was born in 2012 with multiple Congenital Heart Defects. She has been through 9 heart catheterizations and one open heart surgery in her short 5 years of life. After her last catheterization on April 12th, we were feeling stuck. We spoke with her pediatrician and started the process of seeking a second opinion. We spent some time researching on who would be the best option to help our sweet girl.

We were thrilled to find the pulmonary artery team at Stanford. The doctors are world renowned in their ability to help children with pulmonary artery stenosis. We put in our paperwork and the wait began. We requested all her medical records and had them sent to Stanford.

Last week, we received the call we had anxiously been awaiting. Kayla is a candidate for pulmonary artery reconstruction. During this surgery, the surgeons can remove all the stents and patch her pulmonary artery to increase the size and reduce the stenosis. They are confident that this would be life changing for her. Kayla is scheduled for surgery on October 23, 2018.

The surgery itself will be 8-15 hours and she will be hospitalized for 10-14 days. We must be in California the week before surgery for a multitude of tests. We have been told to plan to be in California for 4-5 weeks in total. During this time, our handsome boys will be staying home with Nanny, Coco, Ammaw and Papa.

We are NOT telling Kayla any of this news yet, as we do not want her to worry. She is starting Kindergarten and is soo excited. We want her to enjoy Kinder, make new friends and excel like the amazing kid she is.

We are looking at purchasing plane tickets, rental car and other travel expenses. We will be off of work while in California and will not have any income. It is hard to reach out and ask for help again, but our family and friends have encouraged us to reach out. All donations will be used to help keep us afloat as well as cover travel expenses.

We are asking for prayers by the boat load. This is going to be very strenuous on our family emotionally, physically and financially. We know that God provides, and we are trusting in Him to see us through this as well.

We appreciate all donations as we make plans and start to get ready for this opportunity of a lifetime for our Princess Peaches!

Much Love,
