Help support 16yr old Kaylie Smiths recovery

Hi my name is Paige Smith and I am raising funds for my little cousin Kaylie and her mom Cindy.

Sunday November 3rd at around 6pm my little cousin 16yrs old was getting off the bus after work getting ready to go home. Her ex boyfriend Phillipe Rivard-Gagnon (18yrs old) waited at her bus stop, waiting until she crossed the road and deliberately hit her with his vehicle. He then proceeded to get out and viciously attack her with a sword. He severed her left hand, her right arm was hanging on in ribbons. He proceeded to mutilate her striking her body and head with the sword. He then fled leaving her to die and was turned into police by his mother. Kaylie was airlifted to CHEO in Ottawa the children’s hospital for treatment. She made it through her 16hr brain and hand surgeries and only time will tell the story of her journey. Kaylie is stable for now and family is in Ottawa. Kaylie is strong and resilient and so so loved we are praying and hoping for her recovery.

It will cover fuel, hotels, meals, possibly a rental car for Cindy and to cover expenses as she will be off work to be by her daughters side. It will also be used to cover legal fees, and anything Kaylie may need going forward as a result of this tragedy. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. We will update as Kaylie recovers but right now family needs time to rest and be there for her and her mother and sister.

Lastly we ask that the community email or call the haileybury crown attorneys office to plead that this isn't another catch and release. Phillip needs to stay behind bars to protect our other innocent youth!
