Love Without Borders is currently raising funds to purchase a small (studio) apartment in Athens in which to accommodate refugees who would otherwise have no place to live. Despite the millions of dollars in aid being sent all around the world to create tent camps for refugees, we see millions of people living unsafely in these camps. Our organization wants to change this and we want to work to increase opportunities for safe, stable, and dignified housing for the refugee community. The right to “a standard of living adequate for health and well-being” is a fundamental human right that globally we do not honor to the extent that we should. Love Without Borders is committed to honoring and protecting this basic and fundamental human need. This specific request is in aspiration of an apartment that is urgently needed to house a young mother from Cameroon and her 5-month old son. They have been working with us for several months now and we are eager to find a residence for their safety and stability. As with all of our contracts, we offer support for one year, and work collaboratively with individuals and families to help them achieve independence. At the end of this family’s one-year contract with Love Without Borders, this apartment will be open to accommodating others we serve from the refugee community. The purchase of this apartment will afford our small organization a sustainable method of continuing our work to offer accommodation and security to refugees in Athens. Any amount you can contribute will be so dearly appreciated and will make a tremendous impact on our organization’s work supporting human rights and dignified lives for refugees in Greece.
