Kazeneza university fund

As most of you are aware, Rwanda is a place near and dear to my heart; a place I have spent much time and hope to be able to do so more of in the future. In this go fund me campaign, I am trying to raise money for a good friend’s daughter to finish her bachelor’s degree.

Kazeneza is the eldest of my friend’s, Martin’s, five children (She’s in the blue with her siblings - Gabriel on the left, Bonaparte and Diana to the right). She was born in exile during the genocide. Her family returned to their village in the east of the country shortly after the end of the war.

Martin came to work for me in 2003 when I first travelled to Rwanda as a master’s student. He worked for us again as a family of three when we returned to continue my doctoral work. He became quite a bit more than an employee - an ‘advisor’ and close friend.

We decided to support Kaze’s high school education, which was prohibitive for his family. Kaze finished high school and was able to place into a University.

She began her studies at the Tumba College of Technology in the north of Rwanda. Kaze has completed two years but had to stop due to funding and has now returned back home to help with the family farm. Martin cultivates on his family land and his wife, Odette, teaches in the local primary school.

Kaze (now 22 years old) has two years to finish, which cost approximately $700 each. Her hope is to open a small business in Gisakura, where she lives, repairing phones and other similar items.

Please consider funding a portion of Kaze’s school fees. Murakoze sana (‘thank you’ in kinywarwanda)!
