Kalamazoo Black History Museum

Tax deductible
The Kalamazoo Black History Museum is partnering with Broncos Kitchen Foundation, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit fiduciary, to raise $1.5 million dollars. These funds will be used to purchase property to build a new black history museum in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This facility will serve as an educational institution that showcases the history and legacy of African-Americans born in the United States as well as other black immigrants from the African continent.

Kalamazoo Black History Museum has located several properties in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan, to operate our facility. Once purchased, we shall endeavor to transform the property into a two- or three-story educational history museum.

Featured attractions shall include exhibits, conference rooms, a movie theatre/performing arts stage, soul food cafe, children's interactive play area, classrooms, a chapel, and gift shop.

With your generous gift, we will complete Phase One (property acquisition) within 90 days. Phase Two (construction/remodeling) shall cost $28.5 million dollars, and be completed by June 19th (Juneteenth) of 2024.

The Kalamazoo Black History Museum in the downtown business corridor will enhance commerce in support of the hospitality industry (hotels and restaurants), our beloved parks (Martin Luther King Park, Bronson Park, and the Arcadia Creek Festival Site), plus other businesses and attractions. A Kiosk, located in our museum, will provide directions to other attractions in Kalamazoo thus encouraging our visitors to discover what makes Kalamazoo so unique.

Programming at the Kalamazoo Black History Museum will be year-round to welcome residents and visitors alike to our beloved city. This objective is meant to have visitors consider a week or weekend extended stay in Kalamazoo.
