Kc and Rob lost their home to a fire

Donation protected
After weeks of planning, Rob was finally ready to join his sister, Kc, in Hillsboro, TX. They decided on Thursday, August 17th. Early that morning Rob had set out from Tenessee in a Uhaul with all of his belongings, aiming to arrive at his sister's house by 6pm that evening. After a safe trip, the two began unpacking Rob's entire life into Kc's cozy home.

Around 1am, Kc had gone to bed and Rob was setting up his bed frame for his first night of rest in his new home. At that time he heard loud noises that seemed to be coming from their neighbor's house. He peeked his head into the living room and saw fire outside of the window. He woke his sister, telling her that he thought the neighbor's house was on fire, before running outside and seeing the neighbor's entire shed and vehicle parked right next to Kc's house fully engulfed in flames. Rob began pounding on the neighbor's door, and when he looked back he realized the fire had already spread to his and Kc's roof.

Rob ran back in his home to evacuate Kc. By the time he got inside, he saw the window blinds closest to the neighbor's home were already melted and knew there wasn't much time. After yelling for Kc, he was only able to grab his cat and get out. Kc had to wrestle her terrified dog out the side door of the home, and by the time she ran back inside to get her own cats, the smoke and fire were already too overwhelming to make it to her bedroom where she had last seen them. She could only hope that they would make it out one of the open doors on their own.

It had taken only 3 minutes for their entire home to be fully engulfed in flames.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

2 of Kc's 3 beautiful cats were unable to make it out of the home. Bug and Mal were found together in the ashes under Kc's bed. In this photo, they were spending time with Kc and her dog, Dorian:

Several hours after the fire was put out, Kc found Mozart by her back shed, severely burned and barely alive. She rushed him to a local animal hospital. A portion of this fundraiser is to help cover medical costs for Mozart. Here is what his recovery looks like currently, before/after:

After the fire was finally contained, it was clear that absolutely nothing survived the blaze:

Rob and Kc lost everything. Kc's small business, an Etsy shop, was completely destroyed. All of her inventory, the machines to make her products, her computer, all were lost to the fire, as well as her massive book collection.

Rob works in tech, is a musician, and avid retro game collector. Every piece of equipment, every instrument, every prized collection he owned was lost to the blaze.

The sentimental value of their loss is irreplaceable, and the trauma and terror of the night are unforgettable. This fundraiser is to help them start to recover and hopefully will give them the means to begin to rebuild their lives, as well as help cover medical costs for Mozart and a memorial for her beloved Bug and Mal. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Even if you're unable to donate, sharing this GoFundMe is a massive help. Thank you so much.
