KC Clay Guild Electric Kiln Replacement

KC Clay Guild is a thriving non-profit ceramic arts center in the heart of Kansas City, MO.

KC Clay Guild is a community-focused studio that strives to serve every member of our urban community.

To promote the appreciation of and participation in ceramic arts through group and individual education programs, public outreach and the creation of a diverse ceramic arts community.

KC Clay Guild needs funds to replace three heavily used electric kilns. The Windgate Foundation has generously awarded us a grant that covers nearly the entire cost of replacing the kilns. The additional $4000 raised on this platform will cover the remaining cost of the kilns along with the cost of having the kilns hardwired by an electrician.

We are looking to our community to add to the funds from Windgate Foundation to enable us to complete this project.

These kilns are used constantly to fire pieces made by our community. Electric kilns are used for bisque firing and low to mid-range glaze firing. The solar array on the roof of our building offsets the energy costs associated with firing the electric kilns.

The kilns have considerable physical damage along with wear on electronic components that affect the reliability of these kilns. Check out the video below to see the three kilns that need to be replaced:
