Kadens wishes

Kaden was born with spina bifida. His first operation was at one day old. Kaden also has hydrocephalus and requires a VP shunt and he is paralysed from the chest down. He has numerous other medical conditions that affect his heart, lungs, kidneys to name a few. Each medical condition brings its own complications and impacts upon his life in many ways. In addition to this Kaden was admitted to Bristol children hospital to have major spinal surgery during this surgery there were complications which resulted in Kaden sustaining 2 broken vertebrates which led to a chronic pressure sore and over time eventually this turned into osteomyelitis. This then caused Kaden to be bed bound for the most of the day with very short spells in his chair, again this has impacted on Kadens daily life and ability to leave the house. Over the course of Kadens short life he has spent the majority of his time in hospital, this time was mostly spent at Royal Manchester children’s hospital where he celebrated many birthdays, Christmas’ there. He has missed out on so many family occasions and events, so far he has had 194 operations. Unfortunately last week Kaden was given the news that due to him now having respiratory failure type 2 along side his other medical conditions there is nothing more they can do for him and Kaden is continuing to receive support from palliative care team and Derian house. Kaden and his family are all devastated by this news and Kaden has started to make a wish list. The family have made the decision to try and raise money to help fulfil some of Kadens wishes. Kaden will be 21 this year and the family would love to make as many special memories together in order to celebrate this milestone in Kadens life (albeit tinged with sadness too). Kadens brother and sister plan on doing a sky dive to also help raise money alongside the ‘go fund me page’ and do whatever they can to try and make his remaining time as special as possible.
