Funeral & Burial for "Miriam Betancourt"

Donation protected

Our hearts can't fathom the thought of having to write this to our dearest family, friends and to her sisters and brothers in Christ. Anyone who may have known our beloved mother "Miriam Betancourt" knows she was a faithful woman of God. She spread the word of God especially to those that may not have known him because she wanted all to be saved and experience the glory of God in their life.

Miriam was in a horrific accident and physically hit by a car on Monday, June 21st; after five fighting days she was declared brain dead on the evening of Friday, June 25th. With multiple organ failure, broken ribs, collapsed lungs, and internal bleeding... the surgeon's prepped for surgery twice guided by the hand of God. With her diaphragm almost being ripped away, she had survived her second surgery. Our mothers heart stopped 3 times and each time she made her way back! After all possible surgeries, mom was taken off of the induced coma and medication that she was on. We waited for more than 48 hours for any response to touch and we each tried to wake our momma up with prayer and our voices to reassure the presence of her family and friends were present! One last test needed to be done, an EEG which would read the brain waves and any brain activity. After receiving the first results of the EEG, it had been confirmed that there was minimal brain activity. We requested another EEG to be done after 24 hours and the results were the same. Our faith was stronger than ever and we prayed so hard. We'd like to share that after learning this, a pastor from my mothers church initiated a circle prayer outside of the hospital. Read below for what came next:

The air was still with clear blue skies and the sun was bright and beaming. Once we locked our hands and closed our eyes a gush of wind blew through the air and you could hear the palm trees swaying back and forth. Prayers were loud and we asked our merciful God for a miracle, for it to be his well. The wind and prayer stronger each time was followed by a rain pour. A few minutes after this our family received a phone call from the doctor and were given the unfortunate news that our Mother had been officially declared brain dead. Ultimately, because Miriam's heart stopped three times she suffered Brain Hypoxia which is when the brain isn't getting enough oxygen.

With an immense ache and pain in our hearts we are left with the hope of honoring Miriam with a proper funeral and burial. Unfortunately, she did not have life insurance and with the rising cost of funeral services increasing in Florida we are racing to pay for the cost of all necessary arrangements.
