Ke'Viania James, 15, was born November 28, 2004. She was a long-time member of the South Euclid Lyndhurst community and died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 7, 2020.
July 5, 2020, Ke'Viania, was celebrating the holiday weekend with her family. At approximately 12:45 in the afternoon, as their car passed through the area of Alleghany and Northfield Avenues in East Cleveland, she was inadvertently shot by a stray bullet. Ke'Viania was rushed to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital where she was treated for her injuries. After a two-day battle, Ke'Viania succumbed to the trauma and is currently at peace with the Lord.
Ke'Viania was a kind-hearted, beautiful young lady who was loved by all. She enjoyed school, her friends and participating in extracurricular activities such as basketball and cheerleading.
Ke’Viania will forever be remembered for her gentleness, grace, and kindness toward others. She always looked out for others and consistently put others before herself.

The South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools have planned a Balloon Release memorial for this Friday, July 17th at 6:30pm on Korb Field at Charles F. Brush High School located at 4875 Glenlyn Road, Lyndhurst, OH 44121. This event will provide an opportunity for the entire community to safely gather and honor the amazing life of Ke’Viania.
Calling hours will be held at Thomas G. Smith Funeral Home at 14601 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44110 on Thursday, July 16th and Friday, July 17th from 12-5pm. CDC guidelines will be enforced at the funeral home. Virtual viewing will also be available through the Thomas G. The Funeral Service will occur Saturday morning at 11am at New Covenant Lutheran Church and will be for immediate family and invite only. There are plans to live-stream this service. More information regarding the virtual streaming will be forthcoming.
All are welcome to the Cleveland Memorial Gardens for the Interment immediately following the service at approximately 12:30pm.
Funds raised will help cover expenses associated with the incident and provide modest funeral arrangements for the family.
