Keegan Gregory - Oxford HS Shooting Survivor

My name is Catherine Ryan Gregory in West Linn, OR and I am the aunt of Keegan Gregory, a freshman at Oxford High School in Michigan. As many of you know, Keegan’s community and home were forever changed by the Nov. 30, 2021 school shooting at Oxford High, which took the lives of four children, wounded others, and forever changed the lives of many, many more.

My nephew Keegan was not shot and was not killed. We are grateful every day that he survived. Keegan was, however, in the bathroom hiding with another student. Keegan witnessed when the life of the other student, Justin Shilling, was taken.

We still think of Justin as Keegan’s guardian angel. Justin had laid out a plan to run, and Keegan may not have survived without that plan. We are heartbroken for the Shilling family, and Keegan thinks of his guardian angel every day.

The trauma of the past two months has been unspeakably difficult for the Gregory family. Keegan is the oldest of 5 children; all siblings, along with his parents, have fundamentally altered their day to day lives. The changes are all the more difficult because it’s clear the family will be grappling with the fallout from the school shooting for years to come, if not their entire lives.

I am making this page because Keegan’s family is blessed with so much—yet they have come to a point where they need further support. The community’s outpouring of love and prayers has helped them stay afloat; now I humbly ask that anyone who is able extends a financial contribution as well. Any gift helps provide for mental health treatment and alternative schooling options for Keegan—as well as the rest of the family.

Our goal is to raise $60,000 for 2 years' financial support for medical expenses, individual and family therapy, trauma treatment, healing practices, and costs of non-traditional schooling. Any money raised here goes directly to Keegan’s family.

The horrors of that day forever changed Keegan and his family’s lives, and I am in awe of their strength and hope for the future. With your support, we can provide Keegan with the tools and resources he needs to navigate this new life and rebuild his future.
