Keely's Hero Arm fund
Thank you for taking the time to look at our crowdfunding campaign.
I am crowdfunding to try and help my daughter get a Hero Arm. A Hero Arm will benefit Keely so much with the everyday tasks she would like to do for herself, and the mental benefits this prosthetic will have on my daughter are just priceless!
Here is The Hero Arm:-
Keeley was born with her right arm missing and the struggles began as soon as she learned to move. She never crawled. I had to worry about the toys she played with because she would get her arm stuck in holes. She would get her arms stuck in the bars of the cot, so I had to remove some of them. Toddlers are clumsy at the best of time but with Keeley missing her hand, it was difficult for her to stop herself from banging her face, so she would aquire quite a few bruises.
As she grew up day to days activities got more difficult. She felt more self-conscious, her mental health has gotten really bad, and she doesn't go to school, have friends or socialise. I must be there wherever she goes because she will not speak to anyone.
She has had several prosthetic arms off the NHS originally for cosmetic use, then about 6 years ago she had one made that the hand opened and closed which was operated by a strap that went round her back an on her shoulder. She was so happy but after using it for a little while, she suffered pain and burns where the strap was.
She loves reading books and wants to play the guitar. I know the Hero Arm is going to help her tremendously, not just with her day-to-day life but with her mental health as well. She has shown me several clips of the Hero arm and to see the excitement on her face is unreal. As a mother, it really makes me want to make this dream come true for her.
She has the muscles to use the Hero Arm, and to see her face glow when she was told that melted my heart, but I'm not working due to ill health, so I know it will be tough for me to get the money on my own and really hope that everyone can help us.
We have set this crowdfunding campaign up and raising money through The Open Bionics Foundation and every donation will help Keely get her Hero Arm. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
