Keep a Noongar family in their home
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Kate Davis, solicitor at SCALES Community Legal Centre. We act for the Abraham family, supported by a group of Noongar Elders, in a class action against the Housing Authority in WA. We’ve lodged a racial discrimination complaint at the Australian Human Rights Commission. In the last 6 years, the Housing Authority has evicted 3070 children from public housing, and First Nations families are especially impacted because over half of all evictions from public housing are First Nations people. This class action is about pushing for change, so that people can sustain their tenancies safely, rather than being evicted to the streets. The Housing Authority has recently advised us that they will issue a termination notice, and seek to evict the lead applicants in this class action. We need your help to keep this home, so the family can continue to lead this important legal case. Please chip in to help cover some of the debt for this family, to support this work. All funds raised will go to support the family - the lawyers in this case act pro bono.
