Keep CMA's Review Services Free
For 22 years the Australian Council on Children and the Media has been helping Australian families to find the best movies and apps for their children, by providing evidence-based reviews.
The government funding for these services was cut in 2019 and since then we've been turning to our hugely supportive community to keep serving Australian families. Other similar services have started to charge, but we don't want to do that. Not all families can afford to pay - but all families need this kind of information. Please give what you can so we can keep our reviews free.
Our services have won awards and are popular because they give all the information you need to decide whether a movie or app is suitable for a child of a particular age. Therefore we fill a significant gap in the Australian classification system, which only tells us whether content is appropriate for under-15s. Our reviews give information about under-5s, 5-8, 8-13 and over 13. You can see examples of our movie reviews here and our app reviews here .
Also our system is completely independent of industry so families know they are getting an honest assessment. It can be used by schools, out-of-school-hours care services, and anywhere that there is a need to decide on the appropriateness of a movie or app for children.
Thanks so much for any help you can give, by donating and by spreading the word to your friends and family. If you give $2 or more it will be tax deductible in Australia.
