Keep Art's heart BEATING - recovery fund

Hi, my name is Charmaine and I’m raising money for a dear friend of mine and his family during a time of medical crisis. Art Szabo is 50 years young with a bad ticker. Not your usual mind you , but something more rare. It’s an electrical problem in the cells of the heart called Cardiomyopathy.
He has been on medication for it since early 2020, but on Thursday, March 30, 2023 he had a ventricular fibrillation event wherein he died and was revived, TWICE. (We’re all so proud of their two children, age 9 & 15, who did all the right things to help save their dad - calling 911, getting the neighbours while mom does CPR… from all accounts, the family, the neighbours, and especially the paramedics and hospital staff are SUPER HEROES!)
Art spent a week in hospital after his ordeal. It was hard on the whole family , especially the children, but what struck me was how much love he has around him! Friends and family stepping up to help in multiple ways. It’s so beautiful to see. Well, the heart specialists worked their magic and now he has a super high tech pacemaker/defibrillator chip implanted, which comes complete with an app to track his heart in real time! Amazing!
At this point, Art will need 6 to 8 weeks of recovery before he can return to normal work hours. As a self-employed man, and father and husband, the disruption in his finances is soon to put a strain on the family. Even though his wife is fully employed, the cost of his medications (roughly $450 per month) on top of day to day expenses over the next few weeks are threatening their financial security. They are resourceful and hard working people who will figure it out long term, but could use a hand getting through this difficult time. I know they are near and dear to many friends and family who will be happy to chip in whatever they can. So on behalf of the Szabo family, thank you so much for your support! ❤️
