Ashton Edwards, originally from Flint, Michigan, has studied dance since the age of four years old. He started his career at the Flint School of Performing Arts. Ashton has attended summer ballet intensives at The Joffrey Academy of Dance in Chicago, Houston Ballet School, and Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle. In 2018 and 2020, Ashton represented Flint in the NAACP’s National Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) competition against over 250 students all over the country. In 2018 Ashton won 3rd place and in 2020 2nd place.
As many of you know, dance has always been a passion of Ashton’s. As his family, we have seen firsthand how dance has been a key factor in his personal growth as a dancer and an over all person. Over the last 13 years, he has had several amazing opportunities to showcase his talent. Last year, Ashton moved to Seattle, Washington to join the Pacific Northwest Ballet Professional Division Program. Most recently, he has begun an additional journey to create more inclusivity as a gender fluid pointe dancer. This new opportunity is exciting and opening more connections and conversations.
Many of you have supported him in many ways in this journey. This has been instrumental, his family is grateful. We are seeking your continued financial support. Being a dancer and living away from home requires funding for living expense, travel, dance attire, pointe shoes, and more. Absolutely anything you can donate to help keep him dancing is be greatly appreciated. We thank you in advance for keeping Ashton dancing.
