This GoFundMe is for Narkis’ son, Bradley. Bradley is 6 years old, autistic, just lost his mother, has been living with his maternal Aunt since his mothers unexpected and untimely passing, and is now at grave risk of being sent to Italy to live in foster care for minimum of 3-4 years while his custody battle continues in Italy as opposed to America - where he has lived the last 5+ years.
Last week, Bradleys order of protection against his father in Italy was revoked, and he is now entrusted by the Italian social services.
Should the courts rule he return to Italy after living here for 5/6 years of his life, he will face the fate of the foster system in Italy, after losing his mother only 3 months ago.
To make matters worse, they are denying him legal representation by the CLC (The Children’s Law Center) despite him being too young to advocate for himself and stand trial.
Our kids don’t have a voice in our system. They’re too young to partake in hearings and trials, but in the same breath, the system is failing to provide a voice for him. A voice who acts only for the benefit of the child.
How is that fair and just?
The system is broken, this isn’t news to most of us. What we know is it MUST change or more children will end up facing the same horrific fate. And the blood of our children are on the hands of those in power who are failing to provide them with necessary protection.
Our children are NOT pawns. They have names despite the courts referring to them by acronyms. They have faces, despite the courts asking us to hide them. It is NOT for the benefit of the child, but so that when travesty reigns, as it often does in these cases, judges are able to sleep at night, not knowing the name or face of the child who is being buried due to their negligence.
This is a systemic issue and we must attack it by the roots. Do not ask for change, DEMAND it.
It is our duty to fend for our children who have no voice in this world. It is our duty to protect them despite all the “No’s.” If we stand idly by, we are no different from them and we are silently siding with the enemy. We are giving them more power to do harm.
