Death is expensive.

None of us like to come forward with our hat in our hand or shaking the tin cup. But we are in need of assistance. Unfortunately death and settling an estate are expensive.

The incomparable Crista and Katy have been bleeding money since the beginning of Bat's death - whether it’s filing fees for bureaucratic bullshit, having to take unpaid time off of work, not being able to work or pulling off the memorial service - and can no longer staunch the wound. Nothing else can be put on credit cards. They are out of options.

Furthermore, this hasn’t exactly been good for anyone’s mental health. Though we persist, the horrors do as well. The world being what it is, neither Katy nor Crista can afford the mental healthcare they both need and deserve. If anyone knows any sliding-scale practices, grants/ funds for those in need, or free counseling for loss survivors, please reach out privately.

Bat’s passage punched a hole in the world that we will never truly fill. But for those who’ve covered most of the financial side of things since the beginning, absolutely anything helps.

As some of you may know, I am a queer, multiply disabled person, and rely on a small number of IRL people to help me keep a roof over my head. Unfortunately, come January, circumstances are going to change. The people I live with have bought a house in another state, and I am not able to follow. And that’s a problem.

The money I get every month is not enough to pay for rent, and due to multiple disabilities, working is not an option for me. So until I can find a new living situation, I have to rely on short-term housing, like extended stay hotels and month to month rentals, which is far more than I can afford on my limited income.

Contributing to this campaign helps me and my two cats stay off the streets. With my chronic health conditions, I can’t sleep rough without ending up in the hospital. Shelters around here won’t take me and my cats.

I had an unexpected dental emergency that wiped out nearly everything I had raised already. It was a dental abscess directly below my brain, and took nearly $8k, leaving me with almost nothing left. I have had to raise the limit on this fundraiser, and my need is now VERY desperate. Anything and Everything helps.
