Keep Black-Owned BodyWorks by Carla in Evanston
Donation protected
We are at risk of losing another valuable Black-owned business in Evanston. BodyWorks by Carla, owned by Carla Eason, has been in our community for over 20 years. It has brought healing citywide but also to underserved parts of the community. When it comes to healing, people must have access to local healers they trust who can understand their experiences and perspective.
BodyWorks by Carla has been significantly impacted by COVID, like other massage businesses. Additionally, BodyWorks has been affected by the issue of increased rents and landlords who, wanting to profit off of the market, give long-time tenants short-term notice that they need to find a new location.
Carla has deep roots in Evanston. She and her family have lived, owned businesses, and been actively involved in the betterment of Evanston through their activism and service for over 50 years.
Many Evanstonians rely on her for more than bodywork. Her deep ties in Evanston, the Eason family legacy of service, and her healing business have allowed her to pour into the community in many ways.
Our goal is to raise $10K to keep BodyWorks by Carla in Evanston so it can continue to provide much-needed healing to the community and support the diversity of our business community so that every Evanstonian has access to the services they need. Please contribute what you can, schedule a massage, and more importantly, share this GoFundMe with others.
