Help Us Save Champion Road that connects Newport and Wiliamstown.
The Victorian Government announced they will be permanently closing Champion Road in Newport/Williamstown as part of the level crossing removal project. The permanent closure is scheduled for completition in 2026.
This closure will significantly impact our community, and we believe that better solutions need to be explored but the Victorian Government and the Level Crossing Removal Project are refusing to basing their decision on costs and that it's just too hard.
We are advocating for the project to be paused so that alternative options can be thoroughly considered by the Victorian Government and the Level Crossing Removal Authority. Currently, it seems like this issue is being brushed aside as “too difficult” to address.
We need your support to continue spreading the word and advocating for the community. The permanent closure of Champion Road would lead to increased traffic on Maddox Road via Akuna Drive, affecting countless residents and businesses.
Your donations will help us amplify our message, reach more people, and ensure that the voices of the community are heard. All funds raised will be meticulously tracked by our independent bookkeeper. If there's a surplus at the end of our campaign, it will be donated to a local charity.
Join us in making a difference—please donate to our campaign and help us keep Champion Road open for everyone!
