Help Me Stay in My Home While I Heal
Hi, my name is Chelsea, and I’ve been living with fibromyalgia for over 10 years. I was only 14 years old when I underwent a spinal fusion surgery and had an interstim device implanted to help manage nerve and bladder issues—so I’ve been navigating chronic health conditions for most of my life.
Recently, something new has developed—something we haven’t fully identified yet—and the combination of that with fibromyalgia has been overwhelming. I’m going through a long and slow diagnostic process, and though I have incredible doctors helping me, it’s exhausting and scary.
I’m fortunate to have Fairview’s charity program covering my medical care right now, and I’ve applied for SSDI. But while I wait (which can take months or more), I’ve hit a wall: I can’t get any help with rent until I’m officially approved.
I’ve lived in my home for four years. It’s my safe place—especially important when my health is fragile. But my only current income is a $350/month temporary cash benefit, and I simply can’t afford to move or find somewhere new with that.
I’m asking for help just to keep a roof over my head while I fight for answers and stability. I will use every dollar for rent and keeping me housed. I’ll figure out the rest—food, basics, whatever it takes. I just need this one part to hold steady.
If you can help, I’ll be forever grateful. If you can’t, even sharing this would mean so much to me.
Thank you for reading and being here.
