Keep Circus Arts in Katarokwi (Kingston)!

Help us find a new home!

Kingston Circus Arts is a community offering circus lessons, performances, and workshops with a priority of creating a welcoming space for underrepresented communities. We recently received the saddening news that we will lose our space as of October 1st, 2023. This is an unexpected situation and we’re asking for financial support from the community to help keep Kingston Circus Arts open in another accessible space. Because this was unexpected news, we have no funds to cover the move, new rigging, higher rent, security deposits, etc.

Please help us to keep circus arts alive in Katarokwi and to prioritize accessible, welcoming spaces by donating and/or sharing this information. We are hoping that this can be an opportunity to move into a more central, more accessible space. Kingston Circus Arts will host a fundraiser show as well to help cover some of the costs.

Funds will cover:
First and last month’s rent in the new space. We are anticipating higher costs as we were in the current space for five years, rent has gone up, and it is not easy to find a space that suits the needs of an inclusive circus space.

Uninstalling/moving/reinstalling the I beams and all items from the current location to another.

Any accessibility features that need to be added to the new space (there were a lot of costs associated with building a ramp, installing accessible doors and building a washroom in the current space).

Rigging and structural engineer costs for the new space.

Support in covering taxes incurred by this fundraising, HST, GoFundMe, and administrative fees.

Costs of storage if a new space is not found by September 25th, 2023.

We are also searching for a space with at least 20 feet high ceilings near central Katarokwi/Kingston that is accessible by public transportation. If you know of a spot, we welcome suggestions by contacting us.

Thank you SO much for helping out. With the help of the community, we are hopeful that we will be able to welcome people into a new home soon.
