Keep General home
Hello, and thank you for visiting our fund raising site. my name is Matt and I'm a K-9 handler from Northeast Ohio. My partner General was recently diagnosed with Lumbosacral Stenosis. Lumbosacral Stenosis is a genetic disorder that causes narrowing of his vertebral canal. This causes the nerves in his back to be pinched and leaves him in pain. Because this disease is dynamic (can get worse the more he works) he was forced into an early retirement. Once General was formally diagnosed we looked into the health warranty provided by the agency he was purchased from. We found that he would either need to be returned to get a replacement dog( If I returned him he would be re-homed or destroyed), or it would cost me $5000 out of pocket in order to keep him. The Police Department I work for was unable to assist me in this matter but did allow me to go out on my own to raise money. General is not only my partner, but has become a part of my family. At this point General and I have formed a bond that is indescribable and I can't imagine letting him go. So, if you can help us in any way possible we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Matt & General P.S. the reason this is set up for $6500 instead of $5000 is to to cover some medical expenses that were incurred during Generals diagnosis and also to cover the fees from go fund me.
In the event that we raise over our goal, I plan to allocate the additional funds for Generals care/ maintenance. Then I would like to start a foundation for other retired K-9's and their handlers. If you do not want to donate to that cause, please contact me and we can make arrangements for reimbursement.
