Keep Grandma Out Of Jail For Doing The Right Thing
Hi, I'm a 76 year old grandmother who locked down on a crane, at a pipeline construction site in Elliston, VA about two months ago. I was locked down for 5 hours and stopped the work for the whole day, protesting the danger that the pipeline would bring to the community and environment.
I have been charged with:
1. Trespassing
2. Not following orders.
The public defender I was assigned told me that I "should pay fully for my crimes" and so I do not believe I have anyone willing to defend me. He is s clearly not an impartial defender for my case.
I'd like to hire a defense lawyer, so that I have a better chance of not going to jail. However I am living on social security, and cannot afford to hire a lawyer myself.
My trial will be on 1/13/2020. I have been told that there is a 50/50 chance that I will face some prison time. Any amount you could offer for my defense would mean a lot to me.
Thank you in advance,
- Duff
