Keep Horses for Hope Thriving: Your Donation Matters

Donation protected
Since 2003, Horses for Hope has provided therapeutic riding lessons, trail lessons, Western and English lessons, summer camps for kids, and more. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and we rely on lesson income and donations to keep our barn running.

With rising costs for horse care and barn upkeep, we are kindly asking for your donation to keep our programs going.
We look forward to serving North Carolina and beyond for years to come, and your donation will help make that happen!

All donations will go directly to the care and keeping of our horses and barn, and provide the foundation needed to care for our entire community.

Want to learn more about our programs and what your donation benefits? Let's dive in!

  • What is therapeutic riding?
Therapeutic riding is a lesson program that uses horses to improve physical, mental, and emotional health. It helps people of all ages gain confidence, coordination, motor skills, strength, stability, and happiness!

Kim Goss provided us with this testimonial regarding her son's experience in therapeutic riding at Horses for Hope:

“Cody has Classic Autism and is non-verbal. He has a hard time sitting still for most activities, but with horseback riding, there is such an amazing calmness that the horse gives to Cody that he has no problem attending the horse lesson. Actually, he looks forward to it."

Carmalee Scarpitti also spoke to her experience with therapeutic riding at Horses for Hope after a car accident:

"In 2010, seven years after a bad wreck with a drunk driver, Horses for Hope gave me the opportunity to take therapeutic riding (TR) lessons. At that time I could barely walk with 2 crutches. After a year of lessons (and no other PT) I could walk fairly well with only 1 crutch!"

Therapeutic riding is for all ages and all abilities, and we are so happy to serve our community and see such positive outcomes.

  • What are your other lesson programs like?
We offer English and Western lessons, trail lessons, and summer camps for kids! We provide the option of private or group lessons depending on your preference.

Jackie McCaffery commented on her time in our lesson programs, stating, "Being around the horses has given me a sense of peace in my life… With horses, I’m free from all my stress and drama at school."

  • Can I donate and/or lease my horse to the programs?
Yes! We are seeking sound, beginner-friendly teenage horses to add to our herd as our older horses retire.

Sound, beginner-friendly teenage horses play a critical role in our program, providing safe and transformative experiences for our riders.
