Keep James close to the Mayo Hospital in Arizona

Hi all I am starting this fundraiser with heaviness in my heart. If you know our family we do not normally ask for help and mainly hold our own in this life, we are usually the helpers. However, times have been hard for our family lately. Many of you may know my husband James Jr., you might be one of the many family or friends we love, he might have coached your kids in baseball for the Angels or Dukes, or you may have worked with him in one of the many jobs he has had to provide for our family over the years, you might have even spent some crazy days with him in this life, I know I have. Here is our life currently...Back in August 2022, James began to feel sick with stomach pain so we started seeking answers at Lovelace in Albuquerque, they gave us nothing but delayed care and appointments spread out by months with no real answers while my once peppy crazy hearted husband became less active and sicker by the day. Because of his many doctor appointments, he stopped working for the City of Grants Water Department and started working for his cousin's family-owned business until he simply could not work anymore. He was blessed to have one amazing hematologist at Lovelace that referred him here to the Mayo Hospital in Scottsdale where we met Dr. Panalla and the many other teams of people who are currently playing a part in caring for him now. On the day of his first consultation back in May, we received answers that were devastating to our family. Confirmed with an ERCP biopsy James was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic and liver cancer and he had a massive infection in his gallbladder. He was too weak to have surgery and it was risky because of the aneurysms he has in his splenic artery. The doctors here are amazing and the care he is receiving is the definition of coordinated care. We were traveling back and forth from NM to AZ but James was hospitalized last month and spent 8 days in the hospital at Mayo. During that stay, a drainage tube was placed in his gallbladder to help with the jaundice he was experiencing from the mass blocking his bile duct. That stint has helped tremendously but also makes it to where he needs to stay here in Scottsdale close to the hospital and the oncology team that is caring for him. James' parents, James Sr. and Sharon will do any and everything, including spending their life savings to keep him comfortable and close to these amazing doctors that have been such a blessing to our lives. I am currently able to work remotely except for coming back to Grants every few weeks to handle work duties and my own doctor's appointments. I carry our health insurance that covers most of the cost of his medical bills (thank God for Out of Pocket Max) right now we currently still owe around 1400 of the 10,000 out-of-pocket Max. I am still traveling back and forth every other week and it is becoming costly. I am asking for help mainly to keep James as close to Mayo as possible, to help with rent and the cost of traveling back and forth for work. If you can not donate please say a prayer or share a memory that you have of my husband so I can share them with him and let him remember all the wonderful memories he has created in this lifetime, I know some will be wild and that is completely okay.
