*update 12th March - I am so grateful and delighted to say we have gone beyond the target! If you are still donating, please know we have further costs ahead in providing an environmental impact survey in the coming months. Every penny donated will be used to fight the further development of our area*

Hi, I’m Sally Rees. I live on Fivefield Road in Keresley, Coventry, and I need your help to protect our local countryside from unnecessary, damaging development.

I have no background in planning, legal work, or council affairs—I’m just someone who cares deeply about my community, the environment, and doing what’s right. I’m a fixer by nature. I see something wrong, and I want to help fix it.

That’s why I’ve been standing up against the flawed Coventry Local Plan, which threatens to open up vast areas of countryside, including Keresley, to more unsustainable development. The consequences? Destruction of green spaces, loss of wildlife, worsening flooding, and more homes being built in the wrong places while real housing needs go unmet.

Why This Matters
For years, key residents have fought tirelessly to hold developers accountable, but rules continue to be ignored. We’ve seen:
✅ Hedgerows and trees felled without permission
✅ Badger setts destroyed to make way for construction
✅ Roads built without approval
✅ Developers using land they shouldn’t
✅ Infrastructure concerns ignored while hundreds of houses are rushed through

And now, we’ve uncovered something shocking: The council has overestimated housing need by around 3,000 homes! That’s a huge amount of countryside at risk—unnecessarily.

The only way to challenge this is with solid, professional evidence. We can’t just stand up at meetings and complain—we need experts who speak the language of planners and solicitors, who can back up our fight with facts and legal weight.

Why We’re Fundraising
We commissioned, and have now received a critical planning report from experts that highlights the flaws in the Local Plan and the incorrect data being used to justify overdevelopment. We had to have this before March 3rd, the deadline for the consultation period with Coventry City Council. You can see the report that has been produced here .

This report cost £2,050, and half has already been generously covered by the Keep Our Green Belt Green fund. Now, we urgently need to raise £1,025 by March 15th to pay the bill for the rest.

Despite attending multiple parish council meetings myself and offering to join, the council has refused to contribute—leaving residents to fund this ourselves. This report is essential in holding the council to account and ensuring our voices are heard.

How You Can Help
If you’ve ever felt powerless watching the countryside disappear—this is your chance to make a real difference.

Your donation, no matter how small, directly supports the fight against unsustainable, profit-driven development. It ensures we can challenge bad planning decisions, protect green spaces, and demand responsible development.

Every pound donated goes toward paying for this essential report.
Together, we can stop unnecessary destruction and push for fairer, smarter planning.
We need to act NOW—before it’s too late.

Please donate if you can, share this with others who care, and let’s stand together to protect the beautiful area we call home.

Thank you for being part of this fight. It's time to make a difference.
