Keep Kevin Kane on MV

11/9/23 update

Dad went to the hospital by ambulance at 4 am on Monday with shortness of breath. He was medflighted to the Brigham around 6 am to be treated for pneumonia, an infection, and fluid buildup in his lungs. He continued dialysis this week.

He is doing well and feeling good, he is looking forward to being sprung on Saturday and coming home to the island.

I am so grateful and thankful for everyone who has donated and reached out and shared, also incredibly thankful that you have all done an amazing job keeping this a secret from him!

He is adjusting to his changing lifestyle and enjoying reading and phone calls with friends.

We are so grateful to all of you for reminding us that we are not alone in this.

Howdy Y’all

I am Caitlin Kane, asking for help for my Dad, Kevin Kane.

This is incredibly awkward but as is life we must go bravely forth.

It’s a little easier for me because my dad is a grumpy old man who chooses to remain technologically incompetent so he will hopefully never hear or see about this.

Kevin has Chronic Kidney Failure and other medical complications that have required a few helicopter trips up to Boston.

Unfortunately Kevin no longer has the physical ability to work.

Dad moved up to Chilmark to be closer to the kids and his favorite granddog.

Kevin has accommodation, mobility assistance and transportation needs to help him maintain as much independence for as long as he can.

As Kevy would say, “Failing to plan is planning to fail”, it’s also very important to me to give him a good send off when the time comes so I’m planning for that help here.

We are planning on getting through the holidays and then throwing him a Slice of Kevin Heaven Surprise Party/ Kevy Roast for the 40th anniversary of moving to the Island in January, details to come………
