Keep Khalil Alive

Baby Khalil Thomas was born six weeks early on March 10, 2019, in Kingston, Jamaica. He has been in the NICU at two different hospitals since his birth suffering from primary chronic lung disease (high pulmonary pressure), secondary to surfactant deficiency with a small patent foramen ovale, and is in desperate need of more advanced medical care.
As of May 10, 2019, Khalil is two months old and hasn't been able to successfully breathe on his own for more than a few minutes. He has also suffered complications from various infections as well as not being able to eat as a baby not in his condition can. He has undergone numerous treatments, and the doctors in Jamaica have communicated to his family that they've tried every treatment they are capable of doing with the resources they have. Khalil's best shot at survival is to be transferred to a hospital in the United States.
A hospital and team of doctors in the U.S. have already agreed to take Khalil's case, but the family is in need of funding for an air ambulance and the many hospital and medical expenses anticipated during his long road to health ahead.
$20,000 (USD) for the air ambulance is needed immediately so that Khalil can be transferred. The remainder of the funds requested (total goal: $100,000 USD) will go towards the hospital and medical care needed to give Khalil a fighting chance at life! If the goal isn't reached and his current care gets to be exorbitantly costly, the funds raised will go towards his medical expenses for special tests, treatments, additional medical opinions in Jamaica with the hope that his health will make a miraculous turn for the better.
Thank you in advance for any amount you are able to donate and for sharing this campaign with others. Your prayers and positive thoughts are also very much appreciated!
Full disclosure: I, the campaign organizer, Typhanie Stewart, am the aunt of Khalil. His father is my brother who lives in Jamaica with his wife and their other two children, ages 7 and 3. Since the goal is to get Khalil here to the U.S. and organize with the hospital, doctors, and medical contractors here, I have been elected to withdraw funds from this campaign on the family's behalf as each of the anticipated expenses are presented. I will keep you, our lovely supporters, updated each step of the way for full transparency. Thank you!
