Keep Knox County Connected: WAKC Relaunch!

Hello, Supporters and Knox County, Indiana Community!
I'm Nathan Springfield, the proud owner and creator of We Are Knox County. As the former Bureau Chief for News 10 and a Vincennes native, I've witnessed firsthand the need for consistent, reliable local news coverage. That's why I'm reaching out to you today to help launch WAKC News Now & First Warning Neighborhood Weather.
Our Mission: WAKC News Now is more than just a news outlet; it's a commitment to keeping our community informed and connected. With a lack of consistent local news coverage in Vincennes and Knox County, it's time to fill that void. While other outlets may only report on major events, we'll be here around the clock, day or night, providing live updates during breaking news or severe weather.
Why It Matters: Free local journalism is vital for our community's well-being. It keeps residents informed, holds leaders accountable, and fosters a sense of unity. By supporting WAKC News Now, you're not just investing in a news source; you're investing in the strength and resilience of Knox County.
Our Plan: We already have our new building and some equipment. With your generous support, we aim to purchase additional equipment and materials to build a state-of-the art set at our brand-new studio. Construction will begin in August, with completion targeted for December. Once operational, we'll provide daily newscasts, WAKC News Now, at 10:00am with an additional update at 10:00pm. We’ll cover the news around the county that impacts you and give you an accurate weather forecast. At noon on Friday’s, we’ll give you an exclusive look at events happening around the county that weekend with Knox County Living.
Community Connection: But we're not stopping there. We'll also connect with local businesses, offering affordable advertising opportunities to support both our operations and our community partners. And we have big plans for the future, including expanding our segments to include Community Comment, Pet of the Week and coverage of high school sports, streaming on platforms like Roku and Apple TV, and developing a mobile app for even greater accessibility.
How You Can Help: By contributing to our campaign, you're not just helping us purchase equipment and build a studio; you're investing in the future of local journalism in Knox County. Every dollar counts, and every donation brings us one step closer to our goal.
Join us in empowering our community with reliable, timely news coverage. Together, we can ensure that Knox County stays informed, engaged, and connected.
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Nathan Springfield
