Support Matcha Thomas Through Hard Times

We are Matcha Thomas, a Gen Z, Black-owned, and sister led matcha shop, built from the ground up with passion, integrity, and unwavering community support. For the past four years, we’ve been dedicated to serving high-quality, ethically sourced, and artisan-crafted matcha—but right now, we’re facing an urgent crisis that threatens our ability to continue.

Our essential matcha shipment from Japan has been massively delayed. As a shop that relies on matcha for about 90% of our sales, this unexpected disruption has forced us to temporarily close for two weeks (until our shipment can arrive), immediately impacting our ability to cover wages, bills, and overhead costs. We’ve completely sold out of our previous stock—thanks to your incredible support—but now, we’re left in a scary position with no immediate solution.

Like many small businesses, we operate on slim margins, without the capital to stockpile inventory or absorb sudden disruptions. Unlike major corporations, we don’t have the financial cushion to weather policy changes that disproportionately impact independent businesses like ours. This situation is bigger than us—it affects small farmers, ethical businesses, and communities that depend on international trade for their livelihood.

We need your help to keep our business afloat, re-stabilize, and support our amazing team while we wait for our shipment to arrive. Your donation will directly help us:

    •    Order a larger restock of matcha and ingredients to keep us going beyond reopening
