Keep Moments QTBIPOC Co-Op & Bookstore Open

Donation protected

Moments Co-op urgently needs your help to keep our space open and running in 2025!

Since the beginning, we have been a volunteer-run not-for-profit space and we rely on donations from our community in order to do this work. We are asking for community support so we can keep our doors open in 2025 and beyond. Without these funds, Moments will likely be forced to close within the next four to six months.

We need $25,000+ to keep Moments Cooperative & Community Space open in 2025.

Our goal to keep us open for this year is at least $25,000 which covers one year of rent and utilities. Anything more will help with covering costs such as providing free masks, non-perishables and hygienic items for our free pantry, offering free workshops, and providing small stipends for our volunteer co-op members.

Here is a breakdown:
  • One year’s rent: $19,200
  • One year’s utilities & insurance: $2,400
  • Fees: $2,800 (GoFundMe 2.9% + fiscal sponsor 10%)

Even if you cannot support financially we appreciate any shares of our GoFundMe and we hope you can come visit us in downtown Oakland or consider us for your next book order!

Moments Co-op is fiscally sponsored by SOMArts.

More about Moments:

Moments Cooperative and Community Space opened in January 2021 on occupied Ohlone land (downtown Oakland, CA) to share much-needed physical space and resources for artists and organizers — particularly Black, Indigenous, people of color, LGBTQ+, low-income communities, and our unhoused neighbors. We are a not-for-profit cooperative that is volunteer-led and horizontally-run by and for QTBIPOC. We carry a curated selection of new and used books and zines by BIPOC and radical authors.
We have hosted COVID-safer radical movie nights, artist + writer residencies, free fridge/stores, sidewalk sales, art workshops, art shows, book + zine launches & more, all while intentionally curating QT/BIPOC and radical books, zines, and art over the past 4 years!

Moments Co-op intends to support QTBIPOC voices, needs, and dreams. We hope to be a welcoming and supportive environment for our communities to thrive. You can learn more about us and our guiding principles on our website .
