Help Megan and Niko Avoid Homelessness
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Niko and I am a disabled latine trans person going through medical hardship trying to get back into direct community services. After spending the last 8 years of my life recovering from: escaping an abusive household, becoming homeless, and saving every penny to move across the country to a safer state in a brand new (rented) home, I have finally arrived at the loss of my stable job of 5 years. With very little in my savings, my roommate Megan and I now face housing insecurity.
To be perfectly honest, I have been pushing myself past burnout and past survival for a few years and it’s completely caught up with me. I’m immune compromised, living with some mystery illness with mystery pains, pulling myself through chronic fatigue, supporting a currently inactive kidney tumor (I’ve named Rodney), and have somehow been assisting myself and others on my entry-level nonprofit paychecks during the constant rise in prices. My paycheck has also been providing for my roommate Megan and my Emotional Support Animal M'lorde. I am currently trying to find a job that, at the very least, has accessibility around FMLA and disability that hopefully continues to offer me a role supporting, advocating for, and uplifting community.
Megan works two part-time jobs with variable income. Her paychecks alone are not enough to cover our expenses while I recover and search for a job. Any emergency would put us past the red and into the streets and right now rent is an emergency.
In order to make this transition and avoid homelessness for myself and Megan, we need to ask for your help. With your support, this situation can remain temporary so I can recover and get back into work that continues to support myself and others.
Thank you so much for reading this. Donating even just $5 or $10 or sharing this to your social media / mutual aid networks helps. If you can’t donate please share! It means our whole entire world that you’d support us in any way.
