Keep our Black -owned Community Cafe open: TLRC

Support your local community cafe with rent increase, COVID delays, no grants or funding it has been quite hard but look at how far we have come. The Lazy Rose Cafe is dedicated to serving relaxation one sip at a time. We have cultivated a warm inviting calm space in the heart of Los Angeles, with the most diverse of communities.

This business was established in 2020, creating an online presence and sales, we had our eye on a space next to the Debonairs on LaBrea. The opportunity the optimistic spirits and vitality of a dream led us to press forward through COVID.

Erdavria Rose, Antonio Martin, Yvonne and Kevin Dunigan invested their personal dollars into the community and signed our lease July 16, 2021. We went all in creating from a blank canvas. Putting long labor hours into a dream realized. Unfortunately it was not until six months later (COVID regulations, delayed permitting) that we were finally able to open our doors to the community on February 28, 2022.

These unforseen circumstances deeply impacted our capabilities however we prevailed. We hired staff from the community, held many vendor and collaborative events. Opened our doors to musicians, artists, photographers, became a creative and impactful space. We held celebrations, tea parties, birthdays, dates, anything we could do to let everyone know we are here for our community.

We have applied for grants, city grants, PPP loans, small business loans, and have not recieved anything. The toll on our personal finances continues to grow with rent increases. This is where we humbly ask for your help. Save our dream and our small black veteran owned cafe. Anything helps $1 , $5, spreading the word, letting people know that we are here to serve. Actionable ideas, volunteer hours, we are trying to keep the faith and keep our doors open.
