Guys, for years, mom and dad have given as they could; opening their door and their hearts to those around them who were in need without ever asking for anything in return. As you know, they are very proud people and will likely never forgive me for doing this, but I'm reaching out as unfortunately, my parents need a helping hand right now.
As some of you know, the last few days have been very difficult. During what he thought was a routine stress test, dad was sent to hospital and admitted in the cardiac ward very quickly. Hour by hour, the situation became more serious. An angiogram revealed several blockages and ultimately the need for a triple bypass surgery. Hours later, blood work showed evidence of low white blood cell counts so he will be undergoing a bone marrow biopsy in the coming days in an attempt to identify the cause of the low levels. The surgery is too dangerous to attempt until doctors are certain that his immune system can withstand and recuperate from the procedure. In the meantime, dad has spiked a fever and has developped an unidentified infection. He is undergoing more testing as I type in an attempt to identify the culprit then find the right cocktail to get rid of it as presently, it is resistant to the antibiotics that he is taking.
Needless to say, it's a scary and uncertain time. Dad is hospitalized and has a long road to recovery ahead of him. Mom is strong and determined but several situations are taking their toll right now. I'd be ever so grateful if you could send along some positive thoughts and a few bucks if you are able. Any donations received will be given directly to my parents to assist with day to day expenses, additional medical costs and all of the unforseen issues that are arising daily.
From the bottom of my heart, thanks for your support in any way you can.
Cheers,
Matt
