Keep Reid's Super-Save Market in the Community

Hello! As a born and bred Charlottesvillian, I have a deep appreciation for the unique small businesses that define the charm of our city. In the last two decades, we have seen how substantial growth in remote work, the tourism industry, and UVA's global prowess have triggered shifts in Charlottesville that further exacerbate the already fraught economic conditions for local residents.
Over 10,000 residents—23.1% of our community—live in poverty, which is nearly twice that of the national average. Additionally, one in six Charlottesville residents grapples with food insecurity, compounded by housing and transportation challenges.
For years, Reid's Super-Save Market has been a vital cornerstone in the Rose Hill and 10th & Page communities, offering essential access to affordable produce and meats in an underserved food desert. Sadly, much like many of the other locally-owned and operated businesses, Reid's is feeling the impact of the tough economy.
If you've been into the store in the past few months, you've likely noticed the empty shelves. Through this campaign, I'm hoping to earn enough so that Reid's can purchase a new bulk order to stock the shelves and get back to offering the community essential groceries at lower prices.
By donating to Reid's Super-Save Market, you not only help a local business, but also contribute to the fight against food insecurity and the preservation of our community's identity. Your support is crucial to preserving this community asset and addressing the broader issues our city faces. Let's come together to ensure Charlottesville remains a place where everyone can thrive.
