Help Sally Stay With Her Heart

Seven-year-old Finnley and his mom, Sally, need your help so she can stay by his side while he fights for his life. Finnley was born with a congenital heart defect and has been in and out of the hospital his entire life. He has received more heart surgeries than any child his age should. For more than three months he was confined to the ICU awaiting a heart transplant. Throughout his confinement his spirits have never dampened, and most of the hospital staff know him and his infectious spirit. On July 30th, Finnley received a heart transplant. Despite initial optimism, the new heart failed and in a desperate attempt to save his life he was given an artificial heart to help his body heal in hopes he will be eligible for another transplant.

Sally is a Speech Therapist for Kentucky’s largest school system and receives a limited amount of paid time off a year, and while FMLA does protect her job for 12 weeks, it is completely unpaid. Her parents are both deceased, and she has no family financially able to help. Facing many more months in the hospital, Sally is faced with an impossible decision – go back to work to pay her bills or stay by her son’s side.
