Surbiton Hill Nursery is the only maintained nursery school in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames Local Authority. We've worked with thousands of families in the local community for more than 50 years.
About our nursery
Our Nursery is the only maintained nursery school within the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames Local Authority. We were graded as OUTSTANDING by Ofsted for the fifth time in January 2020. This means our Nursery has been graded as outstanding for more than 20 years!
We are in essence an outdoor Nursery with a beautiful and exciting outdoor space for the children to learn and thrive in. We follow the forest school principles in all we do and have daily opportunities for the children to extend their skills in all weathers celebrating the seasonal approach to the curriculum and being led by the interests of the children themselves.
We offer Outstanding early education as a part of the 15 hours universal offer for three and four year old children. We have a specialist provision for children with Social Communication difficulties, or ASD . We offer early education for 2 year old children who are eligible for 15 hours per week. We also offer additional hours as a part of 30 hours for working parents and we are open 49 weeks of the year 8am-6pm for working parents. We are a large community and have spaces for up to 134 children.
Our Nursery is very unique and is a hub for Inclusion and Early years for Kingston upon Thames. We have specialist teachers and highly qualified early years educators working together to provide the very best in education and care.
The impact of Covid-19
Our school has been hard hit by the pandemic, we've not been able to offer our full time provision for everyone except Key workers, and haven't been able charge our families for any wrap around care whilst they haven't been attending,. We are government funded but rely on the extra income to help support our budget. We haven't been able to offer any clubs and we've not been able to generate any income through our usual annual fundraising events.
We are unable to claim for any of our costs associated with Covid-19 and therefore we're struggling and an already stretched budget has just got even thinner. This worries us a great deal especially going forward into a new year, it will have a massive impact on our future as a Nursery school.
How you can help
Donate whatever you can, start your own fundraiser or share with your friends. We've been a part of this community for over 50 years so we know there are a lot of families out there who have been a part of the "Surbiton Family".
Any funds we raise will be used to continue to provide the high quality resources and activities that we are known for.
