Keep the Garden of Discovery Alive

The Garden of Discovery is rooted in the centre of Furzedown life, on the corner of Welham and Penwortham Roads, opposite the main entrance to Penwortham Primary.

A popular spot for parents and guardians before and after school, a prime location for a quiet lunch break and a great space for outdoor education. This open green space is all too often a place of joy for both young and young at heart but the increase in its use over the last few years has taken a toll and it urgently needs some work to update it.

The grass on the top bank has been eroded over time (particularly over the Covid lockdowns) and now all watering the ground does is generate a mud bath. The sitting/climbing stumps have seen better days. The material on the ground around the climbing tree and play den is threadbare. Whilst it is still useable as an outdoor space it is not in the best shape it could be.

We want to change this and see the garden once again thrive as a community spot for all ages.

Your donation will help us to rejuvenate the existing facilities and future-proof the garden so its legacy as a safe space for all in Furzedown can continue.

Can you help us?
