Keep the Movies Under the Stars Shining Bright
Donation protected
I have owned the Pleasant Valley Drive In Theater for 25 years. I am only able to open 5 months of the year due to the Connecticut weather. It makes a little bit of money but certainly not enough to live on. I have always worked a full time job on top of running the theater. The Drive In is really a labor of love more than anything else. I was raised at the theater and I raised my 3 children there. It always needs a lot of TLC in the spring as the buildings have been there since 1947 when the theater opened. I am trying the get the theater opened this spring so that people can get out of the house and actually see a movie during the Covid 19 crisis. My problem this spring is the roof on my concession stand has finally given up and I am left with no choice but to put a new roof on. I have been quoted a price of $7600.00 if all goes well. I have not been working due to the virus as I waitress full time. I am not even able to pay my own bills never mind come up with this kind of money for a roof. I know its a lot of money and I know its a lot to ask especially at this time but the theater holds so many wonderful memories for so many people and it would be a shame for it to go dark when it has never been closed in the 73 years it has existed. I have people contacting me everyday asking if I am going to open. I am willing to trade passes for certain donations. I have been given permission to open by the town and the health department. I hope you can find it in your hearts to help keep the Pleasant Valley Drive In Theater showing movies under the stars for years to come.
