Our beloved city that we call home was just destroyed by Hurricane Helene a few days ago. We still don't have electricity or water at our home or restaurant. While our family, friends and staff are safe we have no way to operate our business, repair our food truck or support our staff. Although we are living a full blown nightmare bills are still auto-drafting out of our accounts. As a very small vegan restaurant and food truck and we do not have the savings or financial backing to just kick back and wait.
It doesn't matter that we were voted #3 Best New Restaurant or #2 Best Food Truck in WNC this year. It doesn't matter that we've busted our behinds putting everything we have into this beautiful little dream of making the world a better place through our vegan food these past 3 years, even while our son Bruce was battling Leukemia. Everyone is suffering right now and we want to be able to stay afloat so we don't lose everything we have worked so hard for. We want to continue changing peoples minds about vegan food and we want to continue to provide living-wage jobs for our incredible staff. Our food truck is in need of a repair, something happened to it along the way home after we catered a wedding a couple weeks ago and although we just paid over a thousand dollars to a repair shop to fix it last week they didn't fix it. They charged us for the repair but after leaving their shop we realized that it was not actually fixed, and this was a repair shop that was recommended to us. We want to get our food truck up and running again so we can feed people delicious food during this dark time and bring in money to pay our bills and our staff. We have two young children at home who need us more than ever right now and the financial stress we are feeling is almost debilitating. We had a rough September with a lot of unfortunate events and then we were hit with this disaster right when we were stocked to the brim with prepped food, drinks, and produce for the busy week we had ahead of us. While we were able to give a lot of food away to our community and make hot food for our neighborhood these past few days we still had to throw away thousands of dollars of product that were spoiled due to lack of cold storage.
Please help if you have the ability to. Every dollar raised will be spent to pay our business expenses, our personal bills to keep our family afloat and to our employees so that they can pay their bills until we can reopen.
This is forking heartbreaking. Take care of your neighbors, family, and friends. We will continue to do the same.
