PLEASE Help Keep The Southern Comfort Open

The Southern Comfort is a humble Restaurant and Catering company located at 377 Marcus Garvey Blvd in BedStuy Brooklyn, NY. The establishment is owned by husband and wife team Kirk & Shawanna McDonald. Kirk is a BedStuy “native” as this is where his family planted their roots in 1982. Our ultimate goals are to give back to our community and serve delicious comfort food.  Our community outreach and participation includes our annual Juneteenth Celebration where we have a tent outside, give away food, beverages and activities for the kids. We also feed our neighbors (and beyond) in need as we’ll deliver hot home cooked food to peoples homes (names and addresses are given to us from our customers). The neighborhood also knows that if they’re hungry and need a bite to eat, they can come and get a hot meal.

Regarding our food, The Southern Comfort's delicacies are a Cari-fusion of flavors, combining the taste of the South with a tang of the Caribbean and South America. Each  dish is made with love from a loving couple taking your taste buds on a journey of a lifetime.  Some of our signature dishes are The Sweetest Potato Waffle, Buttermilk Fried Chicken and the Soulll Roll; but there’s something on the menu for everyone’s liking. From their delicious Mac & Cheese or Homestyle Buttery Grits to their Catfish Nuggets, Roasted Salmon or BBQ ribs - their food is sure to leave you more than satisfied!

Why we need your help …

We’re fighting to keep the doors open!

We officially opened our doors in 2019. We received favor and quickly created a buzz in the neighborhood. As we were getting our footing, the pandemic hit. It has become increasingly difficult during this time as mandates and the now the Omicron variant have made our indoor dining almost non existent. Unfortunately, we were unable to obtain the public funding that was available to some businesses and we’ve literally just been trying to keep our heads above water for the past 2 years but we simply don’t have enough capital to sustain the fight. We would love to continue and grow with the neighborhood that raised us and allowed us to open our restaurant. Our situation is DIER as our doors will close for good unless capital is raised before the end of February.
