The Travis Family Needs Your Help

Meet the Travis Family. My name is Genevieve Giddings Travis. I am a respected licensed clinical social worker, wife to Justin Travis (JT), an accomplished graphic designer, and mother to a twice-exceptional six-year-old boy named Nolan. Our family is native to Colorado and lives in the charming mountain town of Durango.

On May 20, 2022, JT and I were traveling southbound on Main Avenue, at the posted speed limit of 35 mph, when a driver heading northbound veered into our lane and struck us head-on at a reported speed of 50 plus mph. I sustained four broken ribs, a broken sternum, a busted knee, and a hernia in my abdomen. JT was more severely injured. He was transported to St. Anthony's Hospital in Lakewood, CO, where he underwent three surgeries to address compund fractures to his pelvis and femur, as well as a fracture to his dominant left forearm. Due to the significance of his injuries, he will not be able to return home for quite some time, as he needs extensive rehab before walking again. His doctors estimate that he will make a global recovery in approximately one year, which means a significant decrease in our monthly income, compounded by the fact that as a one man show JT will likely experience a loss of business due to his extended unavailability.

Our little family is navigating maintaining the day-to-day, as well as how to stay close and connected, while JT is so far away and unable to work. Your contributions to this fund will enable us to keep a roof over our heads, our bellies fed, and the lights on. It will also support us in traveling to Denver to visit JT so we can cheer him on as he works to get back on his own two feet.
